Twite - Limited Edition Original Linoprint
Twite - Limited Edition Original Linoprint
Our Twite linoprint was created for Into The Red - a fund-raising book published in autumn 2022 by the British Trust for Ornithology. This important book features 70 red listed bird species in the UK, described and depicted by 140 different artists and authors and can be ordered directly from the BTO at https://british-trust-for-ornithology.myshopify.com/products/into-the-red
Created by David Wood, Site Manager on the RSPB's Oa Reserve on the Isle of Islay, this A5 linoprint features a twite sitting on a barbed wire fence, as is common here on Islay. After sketching, the design is transferred onto lino and carved with a fine tool. Every piece is individually hand printed and is therefore subtly unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
Twite as a species are in severe decline across the UK, thankfully due to the sustained work by the RSPB over the years the population here on Islay is comparatively healthy with large flocks of several hundred feeding on the reserve throughout the autumn and winter months.
This is our first limited edition print and will contain 50 original numbered linoprints. 20% from the sale of each print will be donated to the BTO and The Rare Breeding Birds Panel to further their work on Red-listed birds.
Please note this listing is for the print only and does not include mount or frame.
