A hand printed linocut print inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
This print is presented either as stand alone on A5 paper (printed area 150x100) or in an ivory/white mount measuring 10x8 inches.
The Large Heath favours wet boggy habitats, much of which surrounds our home on The Oa, Islay. Adults always sit with their wings closed and their main food plant is Hare’s-tail Cotton Grass. This design was sketched in spring 2021, after sketching we transfer the design onto lino and carve it with a fine tool. Every piece is individually printed by hand and is therefore unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
