A handprinted linocut card inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland.
This card is blank inside for your own message and measures 104mm x 147mm. The card is made from 270g 100% post consumer waste recycled black card and comes with a Kraft brown envelope.
Whisky Stills
Islay, our island home is famous the world over for its whisky. Home to 9 whisky distilleries; Ardbeg, Ardnahoe, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. The copper still is a vital part of the whisky making process. Within the copper belly of the still, the wash is boiled creating alcohol vapours which collect in the narrow ‘swan’s neck’ of the still before being condensed into strong alcohol. Stills are made from copper, the sulphur from the fermenting yeast reacts with the copper on a molecular level making the whisky taste smooth and not bitter. Different shapes stills create different flavours, giving each whisky a distinctive taste. This still was sketched and then carved multiple times into Lino using a fine tool. Every card is hand printed and therefore subtly unique. We use oil-based inks and our cards and envelopes are made with recycled paper and packaged in recycled tissue paper.
