A hand printed linocut print inspired by and created on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
This print is presented either as stand alone on A5 paper (printed area 150x100) or in an ivory/white mount measuring 10x8 inches.
The Green-veined White butterfly is one of the first to be seen in spring here on the Isle of Islay. Its emergence coincides with its foodplant the cuckooflower in early May. Seeing these beautiful pale mauve flowers and butterflies around our home always fills us with a sense of sunshine and warmer days ahead. This design was sketched in spring 2021, after sketching we transfer the design onto lino and carve it with a fine tool. Every piece is individually printed by hand and is therefore unique. We use vegetable oil-based inks and 300gsm Snowden Paper.
