Printed on 100% recycled cotton paper, handmade in India, aged and dried in the sun. The 130gsm paper is tree free, acid free and chemical free. Due to the handmade nature of the paper each sheet differs slightly. Each print measures approx 21x15cm and has a deckled edge.
‘Crex crex’ - Isle of Islay
This highly elusive and endangered bird arrives on Islay in May, having migrated from central Africa. Red listed, the corncrake is a globally threated species in severe decline. They breed in small numbers here on the Isle of Islay, we are lucky enough to sometimes hear their rasping ‘crex crex’ call through the night.
This corncrake was sketched in May 2021, after sketching we then transfer the design onto lino and carve it with a fine tool. Every print is printed by hand and is therefore unique.
